IN PHILLY we need to celebrate that commitment and legacy. We need to celebrate Dan Berrigan!
Do you remember or have you heard of the Plowshares 8 action at GE in King of Prussia, PA (now, Lockheed Martin) that involved both Daniel and Philip Berrigan, enacting the Isaiah prophesy of “beating swords into plowshares.’
Daniel Berrigan was one of the great peacemakers in history, legendary war resister and political prisoner,”undergound fugitive” from war, poet, Jesuit priest, author of fifty books (see link below), university educator, and one of the truly spiritual leaders in American history.
Here are a few links that will give you a taste of this astonishing figure, a peacemaking prophet, beginning with a look back at Dan’s life and interview by Amy Goodman on Democracy Now, including an extensive interview with him.
