DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nSunday\, June 12 – Celebrating the Life of Father Daniel Berrigan\, S.J.(May 9\, 1921 – April 30\, 2016) \, with music\, readings poetry\, from Daniel Berrigan\, and more from the just published book of letters between Daniel and his brother\, Phil.\nThis celebration is intended as a sharing. \nSo bring your literary passage from a book or poem by Daniel\, or a memory\, a story\, some photos\, to the Brandywine Peace Community celebration of the life of Daniel Berrigan.\nCome to the  Brandywine Peace Community monthly potluck supper and program\, 2nd Sunday of the month\,  at University Lutheran Church\, 3637 Chestnut Street\, Philadelphia\, PA 19104 (corner of 37th & Chestnut St\, in the University City section of the city\, limited parking in lot at the rear of the church)\n4:30p.m. Potluck Supper (bring main dish\, salad\, or dessert).  Program begins at 5:30p.m.\n\nIN PHILLY we need to celebrate that commitment and legacy.  We need to celebrate Dan Berrigan!\n\n\n\n\n\nDo you remember or have you heard of the Plowshares 8 action at GE in King of Prussia\, PA (now\, Lockheed Martin) that involved both Daniel and Philip Berrigan\, enacting the Isaiah prophesy of “beating swords into plowshares.’\nhttp://www.nytimes.com/1990/04/11/us/eight-sentenced-in-1980-protest-at-nuclear-unit.html\n\n\nDaniel Berrigan was one of the great peacemakers in history\, legendary war resister and political prisoner\,”undergound fugitive” from war\, poet\, Jesuit priest\, author of  fifty books (see link below)\, university educator\, and one of the truly spiritual leaders in American history.\n\nHere are a few links that will give you a taste of this astonishing  figure\, a peacemaking prophet\, beginning with a look back at Dan’s life and interview  by Amy  Goodman on Democracy Now\, including an extensive interview with him.\n\nhttp://www.democracynow.org/2016/5/30/remembering_father_daniel_berrigan_a_prophet\n\nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Berrigan\n\nhttp://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/01/nyregion/daniel-j-berrigan-defiant-priest-who-preached-pacifism-dies-at-94.html?_r=0\n
