DESCRIPTION:Abolish Nuclear Weapons\nRemembering Hiroshima\, Nagasaki\,\nAugust 6 – 9\, 1945\, and the Nuclear\n‘Journey of Death’.\nHiroshima\, Nagasaki Banner and Picture Display. “Laying Down the Law” of  the UN Nuclear Ban Treaty at Lockheed Martin\, U.S. #1 Nuclear Weapons Contractor\nLockheed Martin\, 230 Mall Boulevard\, King of Prussia\, PA  (Mall & Goddard Boulevards\,\nbehind the King of Prussia Mall)   \n\nHistoric anti-nuclear weapons banner and photo display on hillside in front of Lockheed Martin complex in King of Prussia. \n\n“LAY DOWN THE LAW”/UN NUCLEAR BAN TREATY AT LOCKHEED MARTIN\n\nThe display and vigil will be followed by a protest demonstration at the main entrance to Lockheed Martin.\n\n\n\nParking available in the rear of the King of Prussia Mall or in the movie theater just across from Lockheed Martin main entrance. \n \nThe atomic bombing of Hiroshima\, August 6\, 1945\, wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80\,000 people in the blast and firestorm; tens of thousands more would later die of radiation exposure. Three days after Hiroshima the U.S. dropped another A-bomb on Nagasaki\, killing an estimated 40\,000 people\, and thousands more from the delayed effects of radiation poisoning. \n\n\nIn memory of the dead\, as they peer to us from under the mushroom clouds\, remember that the unimaginable threat of world wide nuclear devastation\, will only end with the abolition of nuclear weapons and the tools of their production. \nJoin with the Brandywine Peace Community\, friends\, and supporters\,  in the renewed fight to abolish nuclear weapons and rid the Earth of the threat to all humanity\, the threat of nuclear war! \nAs a bell of peace tolls\, people are invited to stand or sit (bring your folding chair)  among the banners and picture\, including the Hiroshima/Nagasaki child pictured above.  Encourage others to stop by the display and\, following the display\, to participate in the protest  at the main entrance to Lockheed Martin.\n \n\n\nParticipants are committed to a discipline of “Nonviolence of fist\, tongue\, and heart (Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr.”.  Furthermore in regard to the Covid Delta spike across the country\, including PA\, there maybe alteration in group guidelines come the beginning of August.  We ask that you get vaccinated before attending and that everyone mask-up.  Bring an umbrella in the event of rain.  Poster to hold will be provided.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe remembrance will begin with a vigil and large Hiroshima\, Nagasaki  Banner and Picture Display on the large grassy area in front of Lockheed Martin and across from the largest shopping Mall on the east coast\, the King of Prussia Mall. The display will go from Noon until 1:30p.m.  Following the display\, a participants will commence up to Lockheed Martin’s main driveway entrance at which time people will  “Down the Law” of  the UN Nuclear Ban Treaty at Lockheed Martin\, U.S. #1 Nuclear Weapons Contractor\n\n\n\nNUCLEAR WEAPONS & THE UN NUCLEAR BAN TREATY\n\n\nOn July 7\, 2017 –- following a decade of advocacy by International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) and its partners -– an overwhelming majority of the world’s nations adopted a landmark global agreement to ban all nuclear weapons\, known officially as the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. \n\nThe treaty was negotiated at the United Nations headquarters in New York in March\, June and July 2017\, with the participation of more than 135 nations\, as well as members of civil society. It opened for signature on 20 September 2017.
