Fifty-plus years ago\, mostly young people made a declaration of independence from war in Vietnam and oppression here at home. They massed in Chicago to stop the war and more. The hope of change was dashed at the receiving end of police billy clubs. \nIn August 1969\, the Woodstock Festival in upstate New York insisted with music and free love the values of a youth culture. Three months later in November\, came the trial of antiwar and counter-cultural leaders charged with conspiracy to incite rioting in the streets of Chicago.\nThe conspirators included Yippie leader Abbie Hoffman\, Students for a Democratic Society founder Tom Hayden\, Black Panther militant Bobby Seale\, and anti-war pacifist David Dellinger. Theirs was the Chicago Conspiracy Trial\, the “Woodstock Nation’s” trial and a declared “culture war” against a generation. Nothing has been the same since. \nCHICAGO 10 presents the historic trial with a mix of archival footage and brilliant animation depicting the trial’s actual testimony and courtroom confrontations. Rage Against the Machine and other sounds of today combine with songs of the 1960s to bring alive the events\, characters\, and anger of another time\, and the hopes that may connect past and present. \n(2007. 110 minutes. Directed by Brett Morgan\, with voice talents of Nick Nolte\, Mark Ruffalo\, and Jeffrey Wright. Rated R for language and brief sexual images.)\nCo-Sponsored and organized by the Brandywine Peace Community.  For more information\, call 484-574-1148 \n
