SUMMARY:Special Premier Showing of DRONE at Friends Center in Philadelphia
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nIt has never been easier for an American President to carry out killing operations at the ends of the earth anytime in American history.\n      Mark Mazzetti\, NYTimes reporter\, author of “The Way of the Knife”.\n\n\n\n\nWED.\, NOVEMBER 16\, 6:30p.m. – PAAN (Phila. Area Anti-Drone Network) invites  you and your friends to attend a Special Premier showing of DRONE in the Rufus Jones Room in Friends Center\,\n15th and Cherry St\, in Philadephia \nDrone is a 2014 English-language documentary film written and directed by Norwegian director Tonje Hessen Schei that explores the use of drones in warfare.   Running time: 1 hour\, 18 minutes.  Film showing will be followed by a time of discussion.\nThe film features clips of Pres. Obama\, CIA Director John Brennan\, and Brandon Bryant\, former drone operator. It also includes photos and quotes of people living under drones\, particularly in Waziristan\, Pakistan. \n \nDRONE” depicts the recruitment of young pilots at gaming conventions\, explores the changing perceptions of what ‘going to war’ means\, as well as the moral stance of engineers behind the technology. The documentary also investigates the ways in which world leaders engage in wars\, as well as look at the struggle of anti-war and civil rights activists.\n\n\n\n\nDRONE follows people on both sides of  drone warfare technology. The unique access to drone victims in Waziristan is juxtaposed to drone pilots who struggle to come to terms with the new warfare. The film covers diverse and integral ground from the recruitment of young pilots at gaming conventions and the re-definition of “going to war”\, to the moral stance of engineers behind the technology\, the world leaders giving the secret “greenlight” to engage in the biggest targeted killing program in history\, and the people willing to stand up against the violations of civil liberties and fight for transparency\, accountability and justice. \n\n
