MANDELA: Long Walk to Freedom
On this Fourth of July weekend, you are invited to see an uplifting and epic film that tells the story of Nelson Mandela, among the greatest liberation heroes of our time and the person who most represented a revolutionary movement of costly struggle and hope for millions of people in South Africa—black and white—and inspired millions more around the world.
On February 11, 1990, people around the world watched as Nelson Mandela, with a clenched-fist sign of solidarity raised triumphantly, left prison where 27 years of his life had been taken.
The man was unbroken, without compromise, and unrelenting in his commitment to ending the brutal racist system of apartheid of his nation, South Africa.
A half-century of lawful white rule over the overwhelming black majority was about to end. Mandela was free.
Golden Globe-winner Idris Elba stars as Nelson Mandela in this in-depth biopic that portrays the South African leader from his rural childhood through his long imprisonment to his election as the country’s first black president.
