SUMMARY:IGNITE PEACE in HORSHAM: End Drone Terror: Say NO to Drone War Command Center at the Horsham PA Air Guard Station.
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, July 30\, Noon – 2p.m. – IGNITE PEACE in Horsham\, PA at the now operational drone war command center. \nStand in protest of the  remote-controlled violence of drone warfare\, the policy of “endless war”\, its related hatred and fear dominating these times.\n\nEnd Drone Terror\, Say NO to the Drone War Command Center at the Horsham PA Air Guard Station\, Route 611/Easton Road and County Line Road\, in Horsham\, PA.\nSee directions and map below.  Recommended parking in the Regal Cinemas Warrington Crossing on Rout 611 just beyond County Line Road.  Dress according to the weather and bring a umbrella in the event of rain.\nThe U.S. Air Force has established a drone war command center at the Horsham Air Guard Station.  From there\, MQ-9 Reaper drone can be piloted by remote control to launch their deadly Hellfire missiles against people on the other side of the world. \n\nSince April 2013\, and the announcement that a drone war command center was planned for the Horsham PA Air Guard Station\, there have been focused protests at the base (last Saturday of the month\, Noon – 2p.m.) as well as other events throughout the region. \n\n\nJoin the campaign to stop the drone war command center in Horsham which is due to be fully operation this year\, 2015. Make an appeal to computer drone war operators or prospective operators whose hands are on the “killing sticks” at the Horsham command center:  JUST WALK AWAY; End the Violence.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n http://truth-out.org/news/item/29466-are-pilots-deserting-washington-s-remote-control-war\n\n\n(See appeal to drone operators for Horsham\, PA  below)\n\n\n\n…We know that drone operators –are being trained for remote-controlled attack missions from Horsham. Human beings\, with consciences\, families\, friends\, and hearts\, will fly\, by remote control\, drone aircraft and launch Hellfire missiles against people thousands of miles away. \n\nThe drone war command center in Horsham is operational. The campaign to stop the drone command center will\, as part of the demonstrations in the coming months\, be making direct and open public appeal to drone operators to take their hands from the computer ‘killing sticks’\, to listen to their consciences\, and to consider their responsibility for stopping the killing and establishing peace. Therein lies hope! \n\nWe all share a responsibility to stop drone warfare and spying\, to stop the wars\, violence\, and poverty\, that grip our world\, to stop the corporations that build the missiles\, bombs\, and drones\, and profit from the world’s suffering.  Stop the drone war command center in Horsham\, PA. \n\nPeace will happen when people make it so.We thank and join with our sisters and brothers at Veterans for Peace\, Code Pink\, Catholic Workers\, KnowDrones\, all our campaign’s endorsing groups\, and resisters at other domestic drone related bases around the country in our appeal to drone operators. \n\nVeterans for Peace have appealed to drone operators earlier  at the Creech Air Force drone command base in Nevada\, as part of an act of nonviolent civil resistance.  \n\nWe make the same appeal here in Horsham at the drone war command center.\nhttp://www.veteransforpeace.org/pressroom/news/2015/03/04/message-us-veterans-drone-operat ors-and-support-personnel-cr\n\n\nNonviolence Discipline for Demonstration Participants\n\n\nTo assist in the unity of demonstration participants\, and to project justice\, our humanity\, and moral message:\n1. We will not carry weapons.\n2. We will not vandalize or destroy property.\n3. We will not use or carry alcohol or illegal drugs.\n4. We will not run or make threatening motions.\n5. We will not insult\, swear at\, or attack anyone\, refraining\, in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr.\, from “the violence of fist\, tongue\, or heart.”\n6. We will not assault\, verbally or physically\, those who oppose or disagree with us.\n7. Our attitude\, conveyed through our words\, symbols and actions\, will be one of peace\, openness\, and respect toward everyone.\n8. We will remain focused on the message of the demonstration\, cooperate with the planning of the demonstration\, and help maintain its nonviolent discipline.\n9. If an individual has a serious disagreement with the organizers of the action that cannot be resolved\, the individual will withdraw from the action.\n10. We will maintain — in word and deed — our nonviolent resolve for peace and justice.\n\n\nInitiated by the Brandywine Peace Community and the American Friends Service Committee\, the nonviolent campaign to stop the drone war command center has the endorsement of a growing list of groups and activists: Bryn Mawr Peace Coalition; BuxMont Coalition for Peace Action; Catholic Peace Fellowship; Coalition for Peace Action (Princeton\, NJ); Death Walk Against Drones; LEPOCO (Lehigh-Pocono Committee of Concern); Germantown Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers); Global Women’s Strike/Phila.; Granny Peace Brigade—Philadelphia; Green Party of Philadelphia; Greens of Montgomery and Bucks County; Main Line Peace Action; Pacem in Terris (Wilmington\, DE); Payday men’s network/Phila.; Peace & Justice Ministry of St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church in Germantown; Philly Against War; Peace Center of Delaware County; Philadelphia Catholic Worker; Shalom House/Circle of Hope; Veterans for Peace; Vietnam Veterans Against the War; Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom (WILPF)\, Phila-Delco.\n\n\n\nBackground\n\nMarch 2013  the U.S. Air Force announced\, along with local\, state\, and federal officials\, chief among them U.S. Representative Patrick Meehan (R\, CD 7)\,  plans to establish a drone war command center within the 111th Fighter Wing of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard\, at Horsham Air National Guard Station.\n\nThe purpose of the drone war command center in Horsham is remote-controlled killing. From Horsham\, computer piloted “Reaper” drones are directed to targets thousands of miles away.\n\nThese attack drones carry deadly Hellfire missiles and laser-guided bombs that are fired by computer “pilot” command from the U.S. against people in Pakistan\, Afghanistan\, Yemen\, Syria\, and Somalia.  Drone strikes have killed thousands of people\, mostly civilians and children whose images and faces may have appeared on the pilot’s computer monitor.\n\nThe multi-million-dollar drone command center in Horsham is a central part of the growing network of drone bases\, training sites\, and command centers\, crisscrossing the U.S\, funded by billions of U.S. tax dollars\, and enabling remote-controlled drone strikes around the world.  Millions in federal dollars were appropriated in October 2013 for the PA drone command center\, which is now fully operational and conducting drone killing ‘missions’ from Horsham\, PA.\n\nMore on drone warfare and spying: \n\nhttps://theintercept.com/drone-papers/\n\nMore on drone warfare\, www.knowdrones.com\n\n\n\n\n\n\n‘Meet the Reaper’\, the MQ-9 Reaper DroneUnmanned\, remote-controlled\, 66 foot wingspan\, 4\,900 lbs.\, 230 mph cruise speed\, 1\,150-mile range\, 50\,000 max. altitude\, $53.5 million (FY 2006 dollars)=cost of four aircraft with sensors\, (not counting weaponry and remote-control technology) \nReaper Weaponry: Hellfire Missiles (Lockheed Martin); Paveway/GBU-38 Laser-Guilded Bombs (Raytheon)\n\n\n\n
