DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, September 13 – Brandywine Peace Community Monthly Potluck Supper & Program\, 2nd Sunday of the month\,  at University Lutheran Church\, 3637 Chestnut Street\, Philadelphia\, PA 19104 (corner of 37th & Chestnut St\, in the University City section of the city; due to construction\, enter from church parking lot at rear of the church) 4:30p.m. Potluck Supper (bring main dish\, salad\, or dessert).  Program begins at 5:30p.m.\n \nPresentation: Facing the Monster of Human Trafficking\, Carol Metzker is a writer\, frequent speaker\, and author of the book\, Facing the Monster: How One Person Can Fight Child Slavery. \nModern slavery and human trafficking exist globally and locally. Victims far away pick our coffee and cocoa beans\, and make common items we use each day. Nearby they work on street corners and in fields and businesses right under our noses. Find out how you can help stop this cruelty injustice. \nBio: Carol Metzker is a writer\, frequent speaker\, and author of the book\, Facing the Monster: How One Person Can Fight Child Slavery. Writing assignments took her to India in 2004\, where she met an 11-year-old girl rescued from slavery. The encounter resulted in her leadership of projects to aid survivors of human trafficking locally and overseas\, including volunteering at a Pennsylvania residence for female survivors. Carol is clerk of Friends Phila. Yearly Meeting End Modern Slavery Working Group and a recipient of Rotary International’s highest honor\, the Service Above Self award. \nParking in church lot at immediate rear of the church.
