DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, June 14 – Brandywine Peace Community Monthly Potluck Supper & Program\, 2nd Sunday of the month\,  at University Lutheran Church\, 3637 Chestnut Street\, Philadelphia\, PA 19104 (corner of 37th & Chestnut St\, in the University City section of the city) 4:30p.m. Potluck Supper (bring main dish\, salad\, or dessert).\nProgram begins at 5:30p.m. \nPresentation: Ed Aguilar is PA director of the Coalition for Peace Action \nParking and entrance at rear of church from small lot\, on and Chestnut Street in front of church. NOTE: Construction of walkway by church\, ENTER AT REAR ENTRANCE FROM PARKING LOT \nSEPTA bus #21 stop immediately across the street from church\, see www.septa.org \nEd Aguilar is the Pennsylvania director of the Coalition for Peace Action. Ed is a lawyer by profession\, J.D. from Temple University Law School. At the Philadelphia Courts\, he was a Special Master on issues of civil and constitutional rights for 22 years\, 1979- 2000. As an adjunct professor\, Ed has taught Criminal Justice and Constitutional Law\, and most recently Arms Control and Nuclear Disarmament at St. Joseph’s University. He has served on the Board of the Envision Peace Museum (2011-2014)\, National Council of Advisors of Lawyers Committee on Nuclear Policy (2012-present) \nEd has worked on conferences\, meetings and rallies throughout the Philadelphia area\, and lobbied in Washington\, D.C. on the climate crisis\, drones\, mass incarceration\, nuclear disarmament\, and diplomacy with Iran with Lawyers Alliance for World Security (1986-2008)\, Project for Nuclear Awareness (2006-2012)\, Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities (2000-2006)\, and the Peace Coalition since 2012. Ed has worked for the rule of law\, for serious arms control and disarmament\, and for federal budget priorities that reflect human needs. \nProgram Presentation: How Do We Bring Peace and Planet Into Alignment\, in the 21st Century? \nThe failure of the Nuclear Powers\, to come to alignment on a way forward at the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review\, after a whole month of debate and discussion in April and May in New York\, was a strong disappointment\, but not  a surprise.  Now what…? \nCovered in this important presentation…Who has nuclear weapons?  Who has disarmed\, to what extent? How do nuclear weapons align as an issue for people\, with other global impacts? \nPublic health consequences and the related catastrophe of climate crisis.  What can we do?  Whose fighting back?\n\n
