DESCRIPTION:Brandywine Peace Community Monthly Potluck Supper & Program\, 2nd Sunday of the month\,  at University Lutheran Church\, 3637 Chestnut Street\, Philadelphia\, PA 19104 (corner of 37th & Chestnut St\, in the University City section of the city; due to construction\, enter from church parking lot at rear of the church) 4:30p.m. Potluck Supper (bring main dish\, salad\, or dessert).  Program begins at 5:30p.m. \nPresention: A Look at Cuba’s Health System\, with Dr. Walter Tsou\, adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania in the Center of Public Health initiatives\, former Philadelphia Health Commissioner\, and Director Emeritus of Phila. Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR)\n\nHow does Cuba get better health stats than the U.S. at one hundredths the cost and without computers?  Hear and share in Dr. Tsou’s recent visit to Cuba.  \nParking in church lot at immediate rear of the church. Parking also on Chestnut Street in front of church.\nNOTE: Due to Construction of walkway between church and International House blocking main entrance to the church\, ENTER ONLY AT CHURCH REAR FROM PARKING LOT. \nSEPTA bus #21 stop immediately across the street from church\, see www.septa.org \nWalter H. Tsou\, MD\, MPH\n \nDr. Walter Tsou is a past president of the American Public Health Association and former health commissioner of Philadelphia. He is a founding member of the National Board of Public Health Examiners and a board adviser to Physicians for a National Health Program.  Dr. Tsou is also the president of Philadelphia Physicians for Social Responsibility.\nAn expert on health reform and health care financing\, Dr. Tsou frequently briefs members of Congress on health care issues.  He is the recipient of numerous awards\, including the Public Health Recognition Award from the College of Physicians of Philadelphia\, the Leadership Award from the Delaware Valley Healthcare Council\, and the Broad Street Pump Award from Physicians for Social Responsibility. He was named Practitioner of the Year by the Philadelphia County Medical Society in 2001.\nDr. Tsou received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his master’s degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. He holds an honorary doctorate in medical sciences from Drexel University.\n
